Focused Events Junior Riders Clinic 2009
Focused Events are very proud to announce the launch of our Junior Riders Clinic for three days in Cartagena, Spain, January 2009.
Niall Mackenzie and Kevin Healy (being fathers) both recognised the difficulty in finding the right environment in the UK to introduce and develop young riders in “road racing”. Niall’s son Taylor and Kevin’s son Sean are both budding talents on two wheels. So Niall and Kev, along with some well known friends, came up 
with the answer. The Junior Riders Clinic will help the wealth of talent that we know is out there just waiting to benefit from quality coaching right from the beginning of their two wheeled career!
This new concept from Focused Events is in association with some of Britain’s most professional and experienced road racers: Niall Mackenzie (Director of instructors) will be alongside senior instructors Steve Plater, John Reynolds, Jamie Whitham and Chris Walker for three days of intensive focused training. This course is designed for riders between the ages of 12-17 years old to improve the full skill set they will need and develop a professional approach to a road racing career.
The event will be limited to just forty riders and will combine both class room and track based coaching from our GP stars on the 13th, 14th and 15th of January 2009.
The course will not only cover circuit skills but will include: suspension and bike set-up, tyre behaviour, fitness and sports psychology – with experts in these fields.
On days one and two the young riders will be on track and in the classroom covering riding techniques, braking, cornering, body positioning, circuit understanding, tyres, sports psychology and fitness. Suspension and machine set-up will be with suspension and team management expert Mick Grant. Day three will be on track only, with free practice backed up with further coaching, tuition and monitoring.
Upon completion of this course riders will have the ability to continue their coaching by hiring one of these stars amongst many other top riders including Glenn Richards Simon Crayfar and James Haydon, for either the UK or abroad, through Focused Events. Then you can continue the progression of your junior rider’s skills.
The £1599 rider’s price includes flights, fully insured 
return bike transport, three nights 5 star accommodation at the La Manga resort, three days circuit/class room tuition from our GP stars, plus all our usual support services. Parents/guardians join them for £350 each.
This is a great opportunity for young riders to travel further and quicker along the path of a road racing career using Britain’s most professional and experienced road racers – very special indeed.
